AUSTIN: SPOAKS MX & Trails in Lockhart, TX Thread

Looking to get out there in the next few weeks. It's good to know that you can primitive camp and that you can ride during the week, according to the website I thought it was a weekend only place.

I generally just text them the day or so prior to me going out. It’s never been a problem. Don’t forget to ask for the access code.

We will be there next Sunday the 17th, a group of six of us, half of which have never been there before. Likely ride from 8am until noon-ish. If you see a few KTM's, a Beta and a Honda that's us, come say hi.

Got out this weekend for a proper single track break-in for the new whip. Color me impressed with the bike, I had a **** eating grin on my stupid face the entire time even with this insane heat. Spoaks was a decently fun trail with some decent technical spots and nothing beyond a beginners capability aside from maybe one steep drop-in that they could easily get comfortable with. Made a stop at Old Pal in Lockhart for some lunch on the way out.

The fat guy in the black shirt leaning against the tree lol. The bearded gnome looking fella is my buddy Scott and the wicked fast, bad-*** chick on the right is our buddies old lady Jimmy.

If you're fat, I'm in trouble, lol! Good to put a face with a name! Let me know when ready for forest. I think Glenn and I are going to Cycleland tomorrow.

Swimming, fishing? Otherwise,,,you're nuts! ;-)
Ended up solo at SHNF. Only one other bike and we literally almost hit headon. Both had to dive into the woods. So thankful we both went to our right. Split second decision. And I thought I was watching for him. Running 75% pace. Happens quick. He left before me.

Always my biggest fear out there and just goes to show you, 80+ miles of trail and only two bikes and nearly a head-on collision. Crazy! Glad no one was hurt, but they really should consider swapping the direction of the trails at least annually to help combat this some.

In all fairness, only 2 of us. But same trailhead and this was a mile out. Me leaving and his return. It is extremely unlikely we'll ever see 1 way trails.

That is a sweet scooter. Congratulations.

My crew and I will likely be wrecked from the Saturday TORCS race, plus we might be doing a fall festival of some sort. Git sum for me.

Thanks to the local series and Nationals we had the trails entirely to ourselves today. Riding was great but definitely a tad dusty, I ended on a pinch flat, stupid tubes. Good times though, I love this bike.

Sweet ride.

Bike still looks new, you ain't crashing enough!

Haha, indeed. She’s only been down twice and I’m super anal about cleaning my bikes and putting SC1 polish on the plastics. Bike has only been out five times now so it is really fresh and new. I smacked the hand guards a few times this trip though, couple of really tight places out there that always sneak up on you.

I really enjoy riding out there, it’s technical without being difficult or intimidating for all but new riders. I like that you’re constantly turning, dropping, climbing, or ducking, it keeps you on your toes and there’s never any down time. I just wish that they had another 5-10 miles of trails to make a really solid 12-17 mile loop that you could hit twice and go home.
