Stuck seat, how to release?

Howdy
Bandit 1250s
for some reason, when I turn the lock to release the seat, it does turn, and I can hear the cable pull, but the seat lock doesn’t unlatch the seat posts
how can I access or otherwise release the seat pins to remove the seat?

I don't have a Bandit, but on some of my other bikes in the past I would have to press down on the seat to relieve the tension on the latching mechanism in order for it to release.

This may not be the case with the Bandit, but it might be worth a shot.

Also maybe a few shots of WD40 into the lock. I have had to do this a few times with gas cap locks. Has always worked.

lock turns fine, and I can hear the cable slide, it’s like its disconnected …
Guess I’ll try to drop the tray from underneath and see if there’s a way to release the mechanism from there?

I used an flat inflatable balloon like tool, that you can wedge into car doors etc to use air pressure to open a gap

I did this and could peek under the seat, found that the seat latch cable had come loose
I just slid it over with a long screwdriver
