Hands down most fun ever, was RACING with American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association (AHRMA) in '07, '08, and 2010.

Barber's, Daytona, Road America, Sandia Classic, Bonneville, Miller & other places.

Historic Production Heavyweight class on my scratch-built 60s Triumph Bonneville, Formula 500 on a borrowed Kawasaki H1R replica, Formula 1 Sidecar aboard an LCR Suzuki GSXR1000, and VMX Sportsman 250 on a Montesa 250 lined up with Dave Aldana!

Hard to pick a favorite...

I would have to post a gazillion pics to cover all the fun I had on motorcycles. Picking a most fun time was back in the early 70s on the National Forest enduro trails in SE Ohio.

Two come to mind pretty quickly.

1) Two-week long, solo trip across the western US. I'd only been riding motorcycles for about 2 years when I headed out for this one. With only a vague agenda and some specific dots on the map to connect together.

2) My second track day at COTA:

The first day is mostly terrifying, but after a 8 or 10 sessions out there, I wasn't the most clueless rider on the track and at least sorta knew which way to go. This is the steepest part of the learning curve, so each pass thru a corner is a little more confident and smoother than the last. Until the fatigue sets in and everything gets sloppy.

Nice Triumph! I'd love to do COTA, but that's serious money and I don't have much of that left for just having fun...

Me racing at Mosiar Valley some years ago on a worn out 88KX 125, didnt have digital cameras back then so Nikon was the name of the game. Me getting some air.

That is a real challenge!!

It begs the question of what exactly is "fun"? Is it a racing pulse, epic scenery, technical twisty pavement, extreme enduro style riding, hanging with your buds in a parking lot or around a camp fire, dodging storms, getting caught in storms, surviving near death experiences, finally bringing home the long dreamed of bike, bike nights, maintenance days, solo rides, etc... ? :ponder:

For me, it is usually the people that make or break the trip/ride, regardless of where we're riding.

I can't even begin to imagine how many pictures I have from the last 25 years of riding.

No pic but easily the OCCRA race at Talihena Ok. Started on main street downtown, ran through some neighborhood streets, through a barn, little enduro-cross section then into the woods, repeat again. Riders pretty much took over the town for the weekend. they opened the high school for showers, it was a neat experience! 2005 I believe was the year.

I'll go - back in 2016 my brother who had been living in Europe for around 10 years moved back stateside and bought a Guzzi as he was a fan of Italian motorcycles having lived there for 3 years. I'd been riding my SV650 for around 5 years at that point - so both of us had begun riding later in life. We decided to take a 3-day combo motorcycle/hiking trip starting out from and circling back to ATX. First day we rode 1431 out to Marble Falls then on to Colorado Bend SP where we hiked to Gorman Falls, then loaded back up and rode on to Ingram where we stayed the night. Next day we got an early start and rode out 39 through Hunt then 83 down to Leakey. After a quick break we hit the Three Twisted Sisters which was quite a blast for both of us relatively newer riders even if we weren't setting any new speed records on it. Headed east out of Leakey through Utopia and up through Vanderpool to Lost Maples SP where we hiked the big loop. Back on the motos and east to Medina where we took 16 north to Fredricksburg which was actually my favorite road of the entire trip. Spent the night and had some good German food in Fredricksburg and we were pretty worn out after that long day. Got a slightly later start the next morning and headed to Enchanted Rock SP where we hiked to the top - I got passed by a pregnant lady on the way up which was humbling heh. My bro had a low-speed drop in the gravelly/sandy parking lot for his first official unscheduled dismount of the Guzzi that we had a good laugh about as no damage done. Onward to Cooper's in Llano for his first time eating there then we saw a nasty storm coming on the radar and tried to plot a course back to Austin to dodge it. Of course that failed miserably and after hiding out at a school in Marble Falls for an hour or so we got absolutely pissed on for about the last 15 miles home. Just a great trip all in all as I got to reconnect with my brother and I think our parents were really happy to see us getting together as adults with a shared love of motorcycles. They both passed away less than a year later within a few weeks of each other so I look back at that trip very fondly. I had a 3yo and a baby at home at the time so vacation time alone was a precious commodity. We've ridden together many times since as he now lives in Austin too but that first trip together was special.

Great story!

Hanging with my homies every November at Pink's in Hollywood for the annual Bite The Wieeenie RTE with long distance riders from all over the country. I consider sharing what you love with others of a similar mindset fun.

Leave Phoenix in time to arrive at 8 pm - eat hot dogs and chat with others - leave by 1 am and ride home. Even with legal lane splitting, the northbound 101 through downtown LA on a Saturday night is NOT enjoyable.

(The building across the street with the Prime Retail For Lease sign is the former Frederick's Of Hollywood for those of you old enough to remember the brand)
