The Queen boys on the coast

Glad y'all enjoyed the Burr trail . How was the ferry ride ? Bullet and I did not get to ride the ferry when we went. We planned our route for it but they said it wasn't running the day we were going to ride it.

The ferry had been closed for maintenance for several months. I checked the Utah DOT web site before heading that way, plus several signs on route stating open. $15 for motorcycle but great view of the lake.

Where's the next day? Almost felt like I was right there with you...

With a rain front moving in fearless leader lays out a new route taking us back to the coast and hopefully out of the heaviest rain.

From Yachats north on 101 to Newport. There is a sign as you leave Newport on US 20 Boston Mass 3365 miles. Didn't get a picture of it.

On to Vista House, Crown Point Oregon on Columbia River

Interstate 84 to Mulnomah Falls on I 84 in the rain. Closed because the parking is full.

Continued on and crossed the Columbia River into Washington State and rode a short section of the LEWIS and CLARK Highway into Dallesport, back across the Columbia to The Dalles. The Lewis and Clark along the Columbis is premiere riding.

One bridge we crossed had a steel roadbed that was more than a little wiggly squiggly ( Hood River Bridge ). There was a warning sign for Motorcycles entering bridge.

We crossed several very tall and long bridges during the day and without exception it would be raining. One bridge in particular you could see the cloud on the other side of the bridge. As you crest the top at he end of the bridge as you come onto the highway you can see it raining hard. Visibility dropped to about 250 feet. Very heavy traffic, no place to stop or even move over.

From Crater Lake to Klammath Falls for the night. Clerk at the motel recommended a little hole in the wall Hawaiian restaurant. It was really good.

This would be the last day I ride with the boys and the most spectacular.

no more pics just miles of smiles.

Tuesday June 12 Day 14

South on 39 Susanville, Reno, back thru Silver Springs, Hawthorne, Tonopah to Las Vegas. Every gas stop I would peel off a layer of clothes. Pretty cool leaving Klamath Falls, but, Tonopah to Vegas on 95 thru Goldfield and Mercury Nevada is just east and adjacent to Death Valley National Park. It is HOT. 700 miles, 13 1/3 hours, 4 gas stops to my aunt's house who didn't know I was around. I spent the night at her house and crashed. Didn't eat today, but had a vitamin water or drink at every gas stop.

Wednesday June 13, Day 15

Las Vegas to Kingston Ariz to Albuquerque. Had breakfast with my aunt at Denny's and had a good visit. Got a late start about 6:30. 570 miles 11 hrs. Traffic, road construction worst wind of the trip, tar strips coming into Albuquerque, 4 keys that wont open the motel door made this a rather unpleasant day. Buffalo wild wings next door to the motel made it better.

Thursday June 14, Day 16

Left Albuquerque 4:45 am, to beat the rising sun to Santa Rosa where I would turn south on 84. Fort Sumner, Clovis, Littlefield, Lubbock arrive Graham. 2:20 pm CDT. 534 miles 8 ½ hrs.

Bravo! Sounds like a road trip well done. Heck it's not a proper road trip without mechanical difficulties, roads that make you re-think your limits, temperature or climate changes, great friends (or family) and hotels and beautiful roads far away. And junk food. Lots of junk food. Sounds like you nailed it!

Thanks for sharing the good times with us.

Dave.

????!!!!!!! How did u have chain problems?????? I gave you 2 brand spanking new chains!!!!!!

I put that chain on new before I got the chain from you. Only had about +-2000 miles on it.

Some people know how to embellish and some don't.

ALL of the photo links in this report are dead... :-(

Nice job revising an old thread though.

Any chance of Google map or GPS for the NorCal stuff?

I think have some of the planned route, but we rerouted a couple times to beat the weather so not exact. Actually turned out better with the reroute I think. I'll see if I can find it. Justin may have it. Will try to repost some of the pics also.

If you get the links working, the linked images will be converted to attachments and stored permanently here, so no more worry about dead links. If you still have the images, you can just edit the posts and use the "Attach files" button to upload them directly, problem solved, no more worry about dead links. They will also show up in the header image rotation.

Looks like mine are OK, James used facebook links which stopped working. I did fix one of my old threads How I learned to Ride, and I can verify that the new software changes it to a TWT attachment if you link from your facebook account now. So loading from facebook works well now, but it had problems before (facebook's problems).

might go through and link a bunch of them, but I can't put them in the right places

Thanks
