Thx for the add.

Friends on advrider recommended TWTEX for answers to the following questions.

I’ve ridden Mexico solo a few times and returning next weekend (18,19). I plan on overnighting in Saltillo then attempting to ride the track inside the red circle of the attached map. I’ve already ridden Montemorelos-Rayones through Rayones and Galeana depicted inside the yellow circle.

I’m asking for advice or input from those that have traveled within the red circle and its safety.

Thx in advance, Marcos

The guys who've done the Mextrek are familiar with this area. It was safe a few years ago but conditions change so I have no idea about current conditions. What kind of bike are you riding? Are you planning on doing roads or off-road?

Excuse the late response.

I was gonna ride my BMW 1250 GS but it’s been in Woodlands Premier Motorcycles for two weeks waiting on an ignition switch.

Im now on an Africa Twin crossing from Laredo tomorrow.

That sucks. Glad you were able to get another bike on short notice. Hope you have a great trip. Would be cool if you shared a report here after you get back (or link to report on Advrider).

Be safe, have fun!

I stayed in Houston 3 nights then flew to Guadalajara for a week then flew home to GA loaded my AT on the trailer and drove to WPM to retrieve my belongings (boots, helmet, panniers etc). I’ll be crossing south from Laredo this morning heading to Saltillo.

I’m committed to riding one way or the other.

Avoid Woodlands Premier Motorcycles in Houston at all cost.

Well I rode south of Monterrey into La Huasteca Nuevo León National Park just past the dam Presa Rompepicos and met four guys riding dual sport bikes indicating that there was no way to continue south. The road was destroyed and impassable.

Attached is my gpx for those interested. I returned to Monterrey then rode past Santiago the carretera 20 to Saltillo.
