Re: Thursday North Austin Lunch M&G

Great to see everyone - and some new folks today!

Re: Thursday North Austin Lunch M&G

Little late posting. Been bit busy last few days. I had a good time as well and it was a nice little turnout.

Now...where to next Thurs at 11:30?

Mic

Re: Thursday North Austin Lunch M&G

Come on Dave. You're selling us out to the corporations:doh:
We should keep it local.

Of course, I say that without any alternatives at the moment:giveup:

In the end, as long as their are bike and TWTers, I'm in!

Re: Thursday North Austin Lunch M&G

Top Notch on Burnet, Mighty Fine Burgers? Sam's BBQ? Hoover's on 183?

Re: Thursday North Austin Lunch M&G

Hmmm.... as this is your thread I'd say you get to choose where. Kurt's got some good places mentioned but I also like Mic's train of thought keeping it local.

I'm open....

Re: Thursday North Austin Lunch M&G

I should be able to make this. There are alternatives aplenty, across from
Billy's is austin's wok and roll, home of the $5 lunch with drink included.

El mercado generally has quick service, trudy's has one of the best buffets
in town, EZ's acroos from central market. The hula hut on lake austin
allows a quick escape to the hill country. An advrider\probable twtex member
owns the upper crust bakery/sandwich shop @ 45th and burnet. Top Notch
and Threadgills are locally owned. For those who like spicy food, korea house has some excellent lunch specials.

hth!

Re: Thursday North Austin Lunch M&G

It's TUESDAY. We need a decision if we're going to move or stay at Billys.

Curious..... was someone not pleased with that place thus the change request?

Food?
Parking?
Service?
Location?

.

Re: Thursday North Austin Lunch M&G

Billy's: I liked the patio seating. Parking could be an issue as we get more attendees. I didn't eat last time but the food looked good. Location is a bit off the beaten path with poor access the major thoroughfares; Mopac, 183, 71, etc. Access isn't an issue unless you are trying to fit into a lunch break. Having said all that, it doesn't matter to me. ;-)

Re: Thursday North Austin Lunch M&G

Due to a VERY slow work week, I should be able to attend this one. Anywhere is OK, but I'm not a big fan of Taco Cabana.

Re: Thursday North Austin Lunch M&G

Put me down as a maybe. Will try and get away from the office, as I'm only a few miles away from Billy's.

Also open to other local places to eat. Places where you pay at the counter would be ideal, don't have to worry about splitting checks, etc.

There's also Hangtown Grill at the HEB shopping center on Burnet Rd/Koenig.

I have eaten at Top Notch only.
Top Notch
has no seating and as a rule is busy most days. Seating for biker scum that is, parking is spotty if your not way early.
Mighty Fine, have not been to this one. Outdoor seating, mutual bike admiration is part of a M&G  They make a good burger that is I have been told.
Sams ?
Hoovers No outside seating! Well I can't determine if any exist.

Billy's on Burnet
it shall remain. We well have to develop a defensive parking strategy this time.;-)
Taco cabanawas local, now owned by a New York company! When did that happen?
