Retired Air Force aircraft electrician doing motorcycle work on the side as a hobby.

Been doing tire changes, fork seals, chain/sprocket and other minor maintenance for several years now.

Use a NoMar tire changer and have done 200+ tire changes (probably a conservative #).

Charge $20/tire.... on or off the bike.... doesn't matter. chain/sprockets $40, fork seals $80.

I'm not a "I'll wait while you work on it" kinda guy. I take my time, go over the bike and make sure everything is good on the bike, not just the work I'm doing.

That’s good pricing! I have done bunches of fork seals and I would most certainly not charge $80 to do them for other people. Good on you!

Is $80 too much? 😁

I hear dealerships charge $400-$600 for that service.... ridiculous. Have some good Racetech tools so doing the work isnt hard and have done about 60-80 sets of seals over the years. I enjoy that work.

Almost felt bad charging guys $100 to change a starter on a ZX10 and an R1. Those stupid things are buried in there good.

Abilene...are you a dirt rider? A couple of us here are always looking for other folks who like aggressive dual sport riding. I used to work part time at Max's Cycles, now Crown Powersports, some years ago, so I've been in the motorcycle scene in Abilene for decades. Heck, maybe I've even run into you and know you.

Not a dirt rider, and definitely not aggressive!

You might know me.... I go to Crown every now and again to get parts for customers.
Used to go there a bit in the past and chitchat with Craig..... those days are gone 😥

Yeah, I still hang out there. Just picked up a new CRF450RL last year from there. It's interesting that Crown just sold to Lonestar Powersports which is part of Zia Powersports in NM. I don't know how many stores they have now. On Craig...didn't he snag a good deal out on the base that he was wanting as a job?

Yep, he got a job on base doing something he wanted.

A few buddies of mine are trying to get me to do dual sport stuff..... might end up buying a lil 300 someday...
