Today I was able to install my new top box I ordered for my KLR. I ordered a Seahorse SE540 case with metal locking tabs. The dimensions are:
Exterior: 14.9 x 12.13 x 9.58"
Interior: 13.52 x 9.92 x 8.38”

For mounting, I pulled 4 capscrews in my rack plate and got longer screws. I made a template from the rack and transfered the hole pattern to the box and drilled.

I need to get some longer screws as I need to add a washer for better support.

I mounted it back far enough that I could still remove my seat without pulling the box and I also have plenty of room to ride two up with the kids. ( Both had to climb on and try).
Overall I am pleased with it for the cost $75 delivered plus mounting hardware.

Nice! The price point is definitely KLR. Is it waterproof and lockable?

It was water proof till I drilled holes in the bottom. [emoji16][emoji16] But I have rubber washers so it will definitely stay dry in normal conditions. It does have locking tabs. They are not the most secure but they will keep out the lookie loos.

You should put some black RTV on the washers and under side of the bolts. The o-rings can get torn when you bolt it in.

Strap it down tight, my top box flew off twice bombing down gravel roads and it sucks backtracking to find your stuff!

That is why you use lock nuts, lock washers can be helpful if torqued down tight enough, by that point you might break the plastic box.

I had to use red thread locker on all of my SW Motech mounting bolts.

Planning to do the same thing just with a Seahorse SE630. Need to figure out how to attach a rotopax as well...

I've thought of sandwiching an aluminum plate under it so that I can attach other things
