Excellent.

I'm trying to talk my son into spending a weekend with his mom so I can get out and hit some sites myself.

Day three started in the rain In Clarksville. Off to a cold start as there was no hot water for my shower.

Then the slog home down TX6 in the crosswinds. Nothing like wearing out just one side of your tires. Total miles for the three days 1579. Finally getting to enjoy some serious retirement riding.

I want to say thank you to you for telling me about this tour. Besides being a great way to see the country, it’s the stories that you hear and read about that bring the world back into focus. The doughboy in Texarkana is an example of that. He was gassed in 1918 in France. I can not imagine dying that way.

Since I have a thread going for TOH rides, I’ll just continue posting my rides on it.
416 miles today picking up two Statues of Liberty; Alto and Grosebeck, and one doughboy, also in Grosebeck.
Breakfast in Alto at Miss Millie’s Diner. Good food. Worth the stop.
Love Bug Season is in full swing.

I’m out doing family things. I make an annual “pilgrimage” ( for lack of a better term) to the home church/cemetery to do a little TLC on the headstones.
I’ve ridden in rain the past three days. Yesterday (Wednesday) was the worst I’ve ridden thru in a very long time.

1209 miles over three days and have picked up a GSFM in Corsicana, TX, a doughboy in El Reno, OK, a doughboy and two Statues of Liberty in Enid, OK, a UH-1 in Cottonwood Falls KS, a Madonna of the Trail in Council Grove KS, and a cemetery in Sioux Falls, SD. I’m out for a seven day road trip with tomorrow being a long travel day to Pueblo, CO for a wedding Saturday. Home on Monday. Lots of miles still to go.

Excellent. I must have stayed at that same cold water motel that you stayed at. My shower took over 15 minutes to start warming up.

Well, the trip is over and I’m back home safe and sound. When I last posted I was in Sioux Falls, SD. My longest day of the trip both miles and hours wise was from Sioux Falls to Pueblo, CO. 777 miles. Picked up a SOL in Columbus, NE and NE5 in Trenton, NE. Had a day off the bike last Saturday in Pueblo and totally forgot to pick up a couple of sites in town; both less than 10 minutes from my hotel. 🙄
Sunday was a very windy day from Pueblo to Enid, OK. Managed to pick up a Madonna of the Trail in Lamar, CO., CO7 in Springfield, CO and OK7 in Woodward, OK. Saw temps from Boise City Enid of 102/105 and my guess wind gusts to 40mph on OK 412. About 480 miles.
Monday was the final day and I might have done too much to get home. Wanting to get more sites when I should have just ridden home down US 81/US 287 to I45 and home. Ended up with about 650 miles I think. Picked up a SOL and. Huey in Cushing then south to Seminole for OK4. Then off to Bonham, TX and the Huey at the VA hospital. Continued south (sort of) to Canton to pick up the Huey. After that it was just ride to get home. Left Enid at 8am and got home about 915pm. 600 plus miles.
I really need to find a better seat for the Tenere or just slow down and enjoy the ride,

Picked up the K-9 in Alvin this morning. Hot and Humid. Road the Wing today. I need some forward foot pegs, otherwise a comfortable ride.

Years ago I registered and intended to do the TOH but never did. I plan to after I retire. Thanks for sharing.

You can still do it. The Tour runs through the end of Sept. You don't have to go out and get every site on the list; you can just hit 1, 2, whatever you like in the coming months. I hit more sites when I was working FT then what I'm hitting since I retired.

I really though I’d be getting a bunch more by now. I’m just enjoying the ride. Don’t wait.

Selling the house and hopefully selling the DR and the BMW, then I won't have a motorcycle until we find a place. The bike I want will probably happen no sooner than next year. ToH will have to wait.

356 miles for the day getting breakfast in Fairfield and the doughboy in Jacksonville. Breakfast was ok but the company was better.

Got out today for 240 miles or so to pick up the 9-11 memorial in Jasper, TX. On the way over on US190, I drove past and did a quick u-turn to see a Statue of Liberty as yard art. Two quick photos of it and on to Jasper. About 6 miles west of Jasper, Mother Nature decided I needed to be very wet. Just that one heavy shower but it was enough.
At the 9-11, there was a poker chip from rider #934, Thomas Brakel of Iola, KS. A bit waterlogged but still readable.
Gratuitous food pictures are from Alma’s Courthouse Whistle Stop Cafe in Livingston, TX. It’s across the street from the Polk County Courthouse. Worth the stop.
I’ve submitted the SOL photos for the scorers consideration.

We were just talking about you this morning Jeff at the 1st Saturday Tyler airport breakfast. Bill W. showed us a chip like the one you show in the photo.

Got the confirmation email that Livingston Statue of Liberty pictures were accepted. Scored as SL312.

Out and about this Fourth of July. Picked up a 9-11 and a K-9 in Bellaire, TX. Also got a K-9 in Sngelton, TX.
Left a poker chip with the duty commander at the Firestation in Bellaire. They have a piece of the WTC and will be getting it displayed soon.
Gratuitous food picture is a bit lacking today. Just coffee and Apple fritter from Shipleys in Angelton. Needed some a/c.

150 miles before it got UGLY hot yesterday. Texas City K-9 and a 9-11 in downtown Houston. Breakfast was at Taqueria & Restaurant Vallarta. I had the Jalisco Special. Basically steak and eggs with rice and beans. Really good.
