Thanks, Steve and family, for a great weekend. Really enjoyed it, good to meet a bunch of TWTers. My weekend wa extra special, had a pinch flat on the rear on the way up as I forgot to air the rear up due to the extra weight of all my stuff and had it at around 18 pounds. So, no problem, until I couldn't find my air pump. When it was not in the kit I could plainly see it laying on my bench at home where I set it when moving it from one bike to the other. Called the wife and she ran to my rescue with a compressor. By the time she got the compressor, then needed gas, took her about 1 1/2 hours to get to me. She brought my little Ryobi compressor instead of the one I carry on the bike but I didn't tell her, it was a compressor that provided air. Had the tire back on the bike and ready when she got there. Pumped it up and could hear air, not a good sign. Pulled it back off and sure enough I pinched it putting the tube in. While working on it the first time I had managed to whack the back of my right hand and it was hurting pretty good. But I had asked her to bring another tube so I would have a spare so in it went and all was again good with the world. Onward. Got in later than I was planning.
Stopped in town at HEB and grabbed a steak for dinner, bacon for breakfast and some water. Ran into the HEB Mascot.
Beautiful spot to camp. Kind of the same as photos others have posted but a little different view.
Shot from other side of camp the next morning.
The grillmasters at work Saturday evening.
And I would be remiss if I didn't show the cleanup crew who thoughtfully had flashing lights on as she made the rounds and kept things orderly. Not a great photo but better than none.
So got up this morning and loaded up and headed up the hill. Goign up the hill I noticed the bike was not feeling right. Stopped on top and sure enough, bit again, front tire was flat. Steve said I could use his air compressor and the slab in front of the shop, also loaned me a bike stand. Pulled it off and the tube was twisted. I had not had the front off so can't take the blame for that. Anyway, it had failed at one of the twist points looked like. Checked for thorns, nails, etc. but did not find any so put the new tube in. Evidently I have totally forgotten everything I have ever known about tire work. I pinched this one also! Not one spot but two it appeared. That right hand I mentioned earlier was really stirred up now and making it hard to do what needed done. Steve came to the rescue and got me going. I am indebted to Steve now and am a touch worried about that. Just kidding, thanks Steve, really appreciate the help.
So, overall great weekend. Figured out a couple of things I need to add to the kit and need to relearn tube changing cause I obviously have forgot all I ever knew.
