I’m getting ready to install T-Rex engine guards and Motowerx lowering link on my wife’s Versys 650. Just curious if anyone has done this already and any advice you might have. I know I’ll need to shorten the kickstand. Anything else I should look out for?

I have done it on my Gen 1. It was pretty easy if you just follow the instructions. If you are doing by yourself, it helps to have an over head support. I just used a rope hanging from the rafters.

I put the lowering link on and slid the triple clamps down an inch and my wife's VSTROM is now easier to lift off the sidestand. Didn't need to shorten it. The centerstand is not as secure now, I may need to shorten it, but may not bother.
