Very obvious this thing was assembled expecting NOT to disassembled ever again. It sucked!!

What was once cutting edge technology is now junk.

Some really cool rigging brackets. We'll be keeping those.

The case weighs as much and is nearly big as an old VW, and that's just the bottom of it. I'll be harvesting these big aluminum blocks.

These scare me.

Have 3 of them, and need to harvest the heavy aluminum casing. 15 bar? YIKES!!

It even had a Heim joint. Anyone need a $100,000 Heim joint?

Got the crash bars and Givi top case rack installed my my Tuareg.

I have a new Tuareg Rally too and am really liking it, am at 1200 miles now and heading on trip in next week or so to Colorado

About 2-1/2 weeks ago I picked up some parts I thought were lost when my engine builder closed up shop years ago. (post 595 - Enjoying retirement)

Now that my finger is recovered, I started to prep the stuff for short term (1-2 yr ) storage and I got the cranks put up. Both had some minor active rust on them, I was able to mostly clean them up with some brass wool, white scotch brite, and 1000 emery roll. I mixed up some AFT and mineral spirits for polishing. On the fence if it is good enough. Both cranks will see machine shop for at least balance when the time comes. I can get machinist opinion whether they will have to be turned or not. At least now I'm not worried about them deteriorating further

4-1/2 forged 460 stroker on lathe getting polished. Thing was a bear to get on lathe, it's around 80 lb. Blue strip is 1000 grit emery

Some of the cleaned-up corrosion - dimples I don't worry about, proud or rough surface is a problem. Worst case, it gets turned 0.010 under. It's a 2.2 Chevy journal so 0.010 under and +/- bearings should not be a problem

3d printed crank base - much more stable than resting crank on flexplate/flywheel register

Covered in CRC SP-350 and sealed in VCI coated bags - should be good for a few years at least. 4.5 460 stroker and 4.25 FE stroker.

Next up is the three blocks - two are cool - one is super cool

Still moving in and outfitting my 1 car garage utopia. The floors were done a few weeks ago. We have a separate 2 car garage for actually putting cars in, so I’m thrilled to have some dedicated space.

Stumbled on a deal on the metal cabinets and peg board that I’d otherwise never spend the money on, and now have a place for everything.

Both kids are home from college so dorm contents are throwing off the final tidy up this summer, but working on putting things away.

I’ve found I probably need to label drawers and cabinets until I commit stuff to memory.

That looks really nice, I love it all. I do think you may have opened several of those portals mentioned in another thread though. With my old eyes, I'd never find small objects dropped on the floor, but I do love the look of it! Is that epoxy?

I'm thinking about doing the garage in our new house but I'm not sure what's available these days. I really like the speckles in it. If I end up doing ours, I'll have to decide whether to go with speckles or not.

Oh, you'd love my garage floor then.
Speckled with several different weights of oil and grease droplets, one exploded black spray paint can, and many mystery random stains.
Really inexpensive and random.

Bled the front brakes on the Multistrada, trying to improve a slightly mushy lever. I think I may have found the culprit. One of the bleeder valves was just so slightly loose, with the nut being a bit rounded off. I ordered a replacement, and I’ll swap it and bleed them again when it comes in.

Flushed the brakes on the Monster and the Tuono too. Not that they really needed it, but I had that freshly opened bottle of RBF 600, and I wanted to use it.

I saw these really cool bar end mirrors on an MV Agusta Dragster. The Monster needed new mirrors, so I looked them up. OEM versions are proprietary to their bars, and are $300 per mirror, so that was a no go.

However, I found some universal ones for $60 on Ali Express. Apparently, universal means “doesn’t really fit anything”, but a half hour with a grinder fixed that.
