What did you do in the garage today?

So yesterday I put new tires on the KTM690 enduro I just bought with the intent to ride it a few miles for a fill up and check my balance job. Start bike put in gear it dies, kickstand up or down. The dreaded bad ks switch which the idiots had to make complex instead of simple. It’s a Hall effect, magnet on the KS which activates the switch when it passes by. On an off road bike that can hit things and leave you totally stranded, not like a simple switch that can be bypassed . The magnet was still there. I had the switch bypass dongle in my cart but hadn’t ordered yet. And I’m leaving shortly for Colorado.
Fortunately I was saved by a friend in my hood that has the same bike and took the dongle off his and saved me at least 2 hours rt to SLM!

Pays to have friends worse case Todd would gladly shipped it to your destination in Colorado have fun be safe let us know how you like that 690

After taking one terrifying night ride with the old headlight, I fitted a new LED projector on the Monster. The previous owner had stuck an LED bulb in the old halogen assembly. It was very bright…but it only threw light about 30 feet down the road. The new assembly is much better and really makes the front end look sharp.

Working on a complete Stage 1 performance package. I’ve installed the Khrome Werks 2 into 1 exhaust in their eclipse finish, which is like a torched chrome color. Also installed the Screaming Eagle high flow wedge air cleaner. Now just waiting on the bike to fully charge so I can tune it. I went with the SE Pro Tuner for warranty purposes.

Nice...
From what  we can see from the last pic baffle wise that maybe the neighbor hatter option...😆

After almost 2 weeks of trying to get enough AC in here to keep it comfy, I have to also work on vehicles, specifically the Ranger as the E30 is making me totally mental with an issue. And the truck work to be done? AC.

Water is getting inside the cab, and after sitting for a couple months, the cabin fan isn't blowing for beans, and I know what that means. Leaf debris in the fan and evaporator housing. Saw where the drains on either side of under the cowl, which does not come off, can get plugged and cause it. I then saw two ports I never knew about, because they were in plain sight, and got one open. Holy Guacamole!!!

The center port has a screw right behind the manifold, and my tiny ratchet can't get it, swivels don't work, of course I don't have that one tiny combo wrench or even the metric equivalent. Bleep. Ended up with the tiny socket in vice grips to get it loose enough to flip open. Not much in there.

Blower motor was no surprise.

Nor was the port to the evaporator.

Pretty stupid they have the heater core inside the truck, and the evap outside, but they are easy to get to. Ford did NOT have a better idea with the next gen's, as the whole dash has to come out to get to the evaporator, and God only knows where the heater core is! Shop vac'd out all I could, but under it is some real gunky dirt-mud. Yuk!! Needs flushed with a hose, but not in the garage! Was well pleased to see the evap wasn't plugged up at all, so put it all back together, got out of the garage, did the fill (after lengthy vacuum) and Bob's yer uncle. Also added some new heat shield since the evap houseing is right next to an exhaust manifold.

Anyhoo, it blows cold, and in summer, that's all I care about!

Ridiculous

Ridiculous

Made even more ridiculous by yours truly. I KNEW after pulling it clear apart (except the mystery portals) to replace the evaporator, which was completely clogged with debris, that I needed to put small screens of some sort over the cowl vents. I didn't, and look what happened!

This one came from another member to the gentleman  we got it from today...
😍
Yours got away while we were waiting for the TW200 you had to hit the block, then this was posted and bought before I noticed it ...

Past few days

Overhauled a Dana 30 in a friend's Jeep TJ. Someone rebuilt it in the past had way too many shims under the carrier bearings cause them to burn up, and not enough shims plus missing the oil slinger and baffle in the pinion causing it to wallow it's bearings out too.

Replaced the retaining bands/orings on the Rabbit's quick release bumper clips.

Place a hose to bring cool air from the spot a fog light would usually be into the area where the air filter is installed. It's not perfect but dropped my IATs when moving from 30 degrees over ambient 15ish degrees over ambient.

Finally got around to replacing the Fiesta's jack point cover, got a replacement part that needed paint. Shop wanted 200+ dollars to paint it so I found some vinyl wrap that's really close and wrapped it. Can't tell at a glance if you're not looking really close.

Installed an air/water separator on the wall for the compressor.

I still gotta get in there on the Rabbit and replace the Clockspring and do the spark plugs on the Fiesta.

got the new headlight cowl and fasteners in, so I got it mounted on the Monster with the new LED projector. I like it much better with the cowl than without. The seat cowl should be here tomorrow, so that will be the two biggest cosmetic updates done.

This was Saturday - I replaced a burnt out tail light in my Honda NT700V. Amazingly easy access! I also discovered the PO had installed pivot risers, so I pulls the handlebars back a bit to keep me from leaning so much.
