Well, the truck AC drama continued after the big clean out, it just wasn't blowing cold and the high pressure looked weird. Said screw it and bought the new parallel flow condenser, drier and orifice tube.
The tubes never come out easy, and I pulled the evaporator out of it's housing just to be safe. Saw a guy online put drywall screws down into it, then when that didn't work, he used a torch on the pipe.

Not doing that! Used my heat gun until it smoked a little, gave a tug on the tube and Hi Bob!
I can't even tell you how much time the next morning I spent trying to get this fitting off the dryer. Or how much cussing I did. I finally gave up and went back to Carlisle, and they were kind enough to get it off, but it took two of them and a vice.
They didn't charge me, so I slapped a ten spot on the counter and said get tacos. Finally get the whole shebang back together, another hour vacuum, and for whatever reason, this thing is a booger to get enough gas in it to keep the system running. And when I finally did..... it's not blowing cold. Bleep.
Called Carlisle and they said they had the compressor in stock, so off I go at 4pm in Friday traffic. Get down there, and it's a serpentine belt clutch. Bleep.
The awesome counter girl, Brooke, also said bleep, as the number on the box was correct, but some cement head put the wrong comp in it. They had one on the exact opposite SW corner of the city and asked if I wanted to go get it. Uhhh.... no!!! So I went down this morning and it was there for me.
Here we go again!
Another good hour vacuum, and pull it outside for the fill. I have no clue why it's so hard to get charge in this thing, but I had to babysit it for a good fifteen minutes, shaking the cans vigorously until it finally got enough to not low pressure kick out. And then......
It's blowing nice and cold in the cab.
Hopefully, when I go back out in a couple hours, it will still be blowing nice and cold in the cab. It's essentially a new system!! Quite the financial kick in the kiwis, and if the E30 wasn't making me mental as anything with the random intermittent ignition issues, I would have let it sit. Parts for the car coming today, but I really don't know where the problem is. I'm sure it has nothing to do with the car having over 400k on the clock.
BAH..... this AC crap is gonna turn me into a day drinker!!
