Who rode in today?

I've ridden every day this week. School started back here in Monday and the bike makes the extra traffic more tolerable. The last two mornings would've made for nice afternoons... still way better than it's been!

Was up and at it early this morning, was the first really comfortable ride in a few weeks , weather and temps were awesome

The morning rain brought cooler temperatures to Houston. I ran a breakfast errand on the PCX. Coolest ride I've done in several months. This led to a 50 mile ride on the SCL500. It was nice to be able to ride without sweating like a pig.

Yesterday was "better than tolerable". I forgot my cooling towel but only saw 94F on the thermometer on my way home.
This morning was warmer than yesterday morning but still felt "cool" with the wind chill.
This afternoon is supposed to be a few degrees cooler than yesterday.
Methinks we've rounded the bend on the heat wave here.

I wish I could say the same up here. Still very hot in the afternoons, but short of triple digits. Still, these last 2 mornings have been nice, yesterday in particular.

"But we have matching jackets!!"

Got an invite to ride my rig in the Homecoming parade! Having built the Tag a Long trailer rear bumper with standards to accommodate the planned kayak rack, we installed two school spirit flags on poles, and got in line!

After the painfully slow trip halfway around town at walking speed, having the clutch engaged for nearly the whole trip, the clutch finally had enough and completely failed!!

I have a new Rekluse I ordered a while back, so I guess I get to install it if I wanna ride at all!

I had not ridden in almost 2 months

I'll see your 2 months and raise you 2.5 years. Until today. Technically, the spell is broken in 12.1 miles.
I dug out my Power Trip mesh jacket and half-gloves, and rode to an inspection place, then back home.
Took the truck to get the fresh sticker because the humidity was no fun and it looked like rain.
The bike is legal once again. I thought it appropriate to have a snort of glacier cold Tito's as I put on the sticker.

First time wearing that Bell helmet I bought from someone here last year. Much quieter than the HJC.
Plenty left to do in prep for longer rides, like lubrication and a new front tire. I have a new tire, or at least it was new a few years ago.
Gotta check the dates on those, that stuff makes me nervous. The back was changed when both were bought, but never got to the front before the 2-wheeled drought set in.

So. Drama-free event, right? Wrong. There's a government agency involved.

I go to a title place I've used for 20+ years as the county offices are like a Golden Corral on free steak night. The girl goes "It wants a code, I can't do this."
What?
"A fuel code, it wants to know what fuel it uses."
Miss, it's a 23 year old HD. I'll bet the title to my house it uses GASOLINE.
"But I don't have the code, you have to go to the county."
Then the lady at the other desk says: "Or you can go to this other location. Joe has the code."
So can you do something revolutionary like CALL Joe?
"No, we're not allowed to do that."
So where is this other location?
"Inside the loop on San Pedro near the taco house."
Ummm... there must be 30 taco houses on that section of San Pedro.
She said another business I never hear of, then said Carlisle Air. Bingo! "It's right next door!"
Off I went. Joe was buried in papers, and a lady helped me. It's a new EV law for the code, and only a manager can have the code.
They're interviewing for a new manager at the one I go to.
Anyway, it's done. And now if a cooler morning tempts me, I can go.

What is that Code for Gasoline vehicles, in case we need to use it?!

Anyone else riding this week or is it just me? I really wish it would cool off though. It's nearly October and we're still having July/August temperatures here in the Houston area!

Up until 2015 or so i used to ride in high temps all summer. For awhile one year i rode between hutto and lockhart at 85mph on the toll road. Then i got heat related illness and AFIB. A cardioversion fixed the AFIB for the most part, but my heat tolerance has never been the same. I know a lot more about heat issues now, but i should have listened and just avoided the 75 minutes of exposure each way. At 60 years old you are more vulnerable to it. Now im trying to be out of heat by 90 degrees. Its limiting but wiser and no AFIB issues.
