Wideband O2 detector placement on a Bandit

On a 1250 Bandit, there seems to be no good place to weld a bung for a wideband 02 sensor, except where the OEM already is.
if anyone here has suggestions as to where to place it, I’m appreciative.

Also, has anyone drilled out the existing and tapped it for a larger thread?
 
With aftermarket headers, the bung is larger for a wide band sensor. Aftermarket header really wakes up the bike above 7k and up. Adding fuel with a stock header with cat in it is a recipe for disaster. Engine wise, either keep the bike stock with the stock header or modify away with a cat less race pipe.
 
No. Get an Arrow header or BlackWidow header. The stock downpipe inner diameter is small and restrictive. It is not just the cat that is restrictive, but the primary tubes too. You also shave ~10 lbs losing the stock heavy restrictive catted down pipe In favor of a free flowing catless race pipe.
 
Aren't the original headers double walled making their internal diameter even smaller and thus more restrictive ? I changed to Arrows plus all the other mods mentioned in these pages prior to dynoing in the PCV, got a fairly flat AFR and a bit more rear wheel HP.

Yes, the stock headers are small and double walled making them restrictive and heavy. Yes, mapping after all mods is best and blocking or removing the PAIR is important for accurate AFR tuning.
 
I put the the MetricMetal PAIR Eliminator kit on mine, came with the wiring loom (including the high wattage resistor) to replace the PAIR solenoid. Unfortunately I think he is not making parts anymore, got a couple other pieces from him, they were all great quality, still use the fuel tank stand.

There is a plug in resistor out now that installs at the plug end of the wiring harness. very clean and neat and plug and play. comes in the newer kits out now.
 
The gold resistor (in that first photo of mine above) is the one that came with the Metric Metal kit. It was screwed to and had heatsink compound to that aluminium plate. This plate acts as a heat sink as the resistor can get hot. I cut a little of the corner off the plate so it could attach in an upright position on that housing bracket. It too had the correct plug to go into the Bandit loom to make a seamless mod.
 
Here is the kit from www.SmartMoto-electronics.com which I have. I have not had any issues whatsoever with mine. Yours looks good but that company is no longer in business and I don’t think you can get them anymore. Thanks for sharing the pictures. Useful information.

(my wife will kill me if I spend $800 for pipes on a $2000 bike)
Besides, the welds on the arrow look like crap.

the aftermarket headers aren’t as expensive as I once investigated.
