This sounds crazy asking this but I was rear ended at red light (they had no insurance) and knocked a couple teeth out. My dentist wants $20,000. I hear some have gone to Mexico for implants. I Live in south Louisiana. Since most people on this forum live in Texas and Mexico is close has anyone done this. I dont know if I would do it but if it was safe and by someone that is reputable and is as good or better than US dentist I would consider it. Has anyone been to Mexico for anything like this? If so could anyone recommend a Dentist to check into That they have used. I started on mini bikes at 6 then racing dirt bikes at 9 and have been riding street bikes and dirt my entire life worst thing is some concussions and some broken ribs at the track and now a couple teeth. I’m still a luck guy.

I had a friend who had his done in Mexico but it was about 10 years ago. He was happy with them and he saved some money but I remember him complaining a lot about the several trips he had to make back and forth to Mexico to get everything done.

My brother and his wife live in Phoenix and they go just over the border. They park in the casino on the US side and walk over. They tell me that you can’t tell the dental offices from the ones in the US. He got a root canal and crown for under $500.00. He has had no issues and it looks just as good as my $3,000.00 one that my company insurance paid for with my $750.00 deductible.

Also the dental staff all spoke good English.

My family did this years ago in El Paso area but not sure now. I would shop around. Dentist can be crooks.

I dont have any personal experience with it. I did check into it one time 15 years ago.
There are several American doctors across the boarder in nuevo Laredo. You park on the this side and walk across.
Iv also heard of people going to costa rica for dental work.

Regret to hear about such. Dangd awful situation to end up with. Like some of the other suggestions, get a 2nd opinion.
I had a Mexican radio once, and because of it I ended up in Tijuana eating barbecued iguana.
Sometimes life can get strange like that. Afterwards, I put the thing out in the garage and left it alone.

90% I’m doing it in US but I have heard of people doing it with success but have no clue where they have gone. Also very scary but just thought some Texans being so close to the border may have done it due to it being 25% of what US dentist charge. I have 2 kids in college and if I could save 15,000 why not If it’s apples and apples and is legit. Only way I would do it is if they have continuing education in US speak English and have many years with a great track record and a modern clean facility and people I can talk to that have had it done.

Progresso Mexico used to be the place. Had many dentists and doctors that served the snowbirds.
Sure it has changed like most good places.

Contact your county health dept. Ask for referrals to a dentist who helps in these type situations.

What Irishcoffee said.

Plus, check into dental schools. They often have a clinic and charge very low rates. My mom got quite a bit of work done at the UT school in San Antonio. She was very happy with how she was treated and the work they did.

Move to the Thorndale area. I fit right in missing a couple. Takes about five people over here to make a full set.
Just kidding. I had a crown on three teeth it was outrageously priced. I am missing a front bottom tooth and I'm no longer working so the gap will remain. Most of this insurance like I have with my Humana Advantage plan is a joke. Don't get me started on that.
I hope you find a way to get your teeth fixed. Most policies don't have pre existing so get one, it will help with cost.

No worries there getting fixed just don’t want to take 20,000 out of savings, that’s a nice used touring bike, lol ,insurance is a joke here also. From what I understand there are a lot of people who do this. I’m suppose to go in next Friday to have them fixed but if I can find a good dentist Mexico I’ll cancel and do it If it’s safe.

Thats sounds way high. There are also at least two options as i understand. One is they put the insert in and let the bone grow around it then put the tooth in a few months later. This was supposed to be the best option a few years back. The other is they just glue the insert in and put the tooth in same day.
My wife had one done at Baylor collage of dentistry in Dallas a few years back i seem to remember $2k

I live in a retirement community is the SE valley of Phoenix and there is a company here that brings in a charter bus in the winter months (when all the snowbirds are here) to take the retirees down to Mexico for their dental work, plus many others just drive down on their own. I've not heard a single complaint from any neighbors on the Nextdoor app.

Some comments copied and pasted. These are responses to a resident asking about dental care in Algadones MX.

Yes, it is much cheaper...I had 19 crowns, three root canals, and a 3-tooth bridge done in Algadones....in the states it would have been $35,000-$40,000. It cost about $7,500 plus driving costs. About 20% of the cost in the states....

We have enjoyed Amazing Dental Care, 480-332-0774. They do have shuttle service if you need it. The owner lives in the states, we found them through the Arizona Winter Visitors Association where we heard numerous referrals of people going there. I had four crowns for under $1,000. and had no problem whereas I had one crown in chandler that took three sessions before they got it right and it was well over $1,000.00. We have gone to other dentists in Mexico that were good but this one was the best. Jerry

I go Amazing Dental. When I had to have a root canal, they took me over to this 'specialist". There were patients in his waiting room from EVERYWHERE, including Europe. One lady was there from Sweden. Top Notch work. I have had NO problems.

Instead of asking the costs why don't you just get on most of the dentists web sites & most costs will be posted. That's how I found out the price for my recent implant (1,200 for implant & crown). US price was around 3,000.00.

Amazing Dental . They will pick you up at the church and drive you back same day for FREE. I have a brochure, if interested. The work is VERY good. and is guaranteed..(dentists here don't do that.)

in addition to suggestions per above, also look at MX dentists in
Cancun. Flights in and out of there & hotels are plentiful and cheap.

or if driving, there's quite alot of dentists & orthodontists in Monterrey.
a mextrek rider i know used this place to get root canals done.

I've been looking up information on going to mexico for dental work. It's a long haul for me as I live in Ohio. But it would be worth it for the savings. Before I retired I had dental insurance and I was a joke.

I've been going here for about 8 years. Modern, clean, very professional and reasonable prices.

Check up, x-rays if needed and full cleaning is only $30. I had 3 adhesive restorations done, $35 each.

I trust them with my 93 year old Mother's dental care. She has had a few implants done. Complete process with bone graft was $1,500.
