Looking for my first pair of mx style boots for off-road. Haven't owned any, haven't tried any on. I'd rather not jump in and spend $300+ on my first pair. I wear a size 10-10.5 Keen shoe and boot.

Also, if anyone has a recommendation for stores nearest New Braunfels that may have boots to try on and find the right size for me I'd appreciate it.

I’ve heard good things about the acerbics-x rock mm 2 boots, was thinking about trying some. Anyone have any experience with them?

Just dont let some salesman try to talk you into motocross boots , completely unacceptable for real life purposes . Put them on and walk around in them at least 10 minuets .

I have some Thor Blitz boots worn 1 time..size 11 but they fit me tight so more like 10.5 size I'd say.
$75

Definitely recommend trying on some Gaerne Balance boots. They have very reasonable ankle/shin protection while being super super comfy and not stiff as a board like mx boots.

This is an important thing to consider. I'd want to ask you what your intended purpose of them is? If your intent is to wear them for TX Dual Sporting (aka gravel roads), then MX/Offroad boots are the wrong solution to that problem.

If you are intending to pick up a dirt bike and hit the trails then that is a different story.

O’Neal
Inexpensive, good quality. Good protection.
Some flexibility.
True MX boots are stiff as steel. But if you are going to be tearing it up and falling a lot or where you could be smacking trees etc, go with the dedicated MX boots.

I have a pair of Sidi boots in excellent condition. Only wore them twice. I have a lot of riding gear I need to get rid of.
I live in Fischer, so not far from NB. I don't know how to upload pictures to this site but if you are interested, $100.
I wear a 10.5 EE and they fit perfectly.

Woods Cycle has off road/ mx style boots. I'm sure they will let you try on.

The OP stated OFFROAD use, that says MX boots to me. Hinges are great but all of the boots loosen up in several rides. I see a lot of nice used boots on Facebook at very decent prices. Good luck.

True... but the number of times I have seen riders say "off road" and actually mean "I might get froggy and ride this over grown street bike with somewhat chunky tires down this groomed gravel road" are more than I can count. So I just wanted to be sure before offering advice on what to buy. That was all.

When I say off road, this is what I mean. And for this, yes, I would suggest proper dirt bike boots. ;)

Agree 💯 Bill

I've got a pair of gaerne balance I'll send you for free in 9.5 or 10. They're older, but still in decent shape. I had to size up. I'm down in Beaumont area. If interested let me know and I'll send a pic.
Beats a sharp stick in the eye

I wear the Alpinestars Tech 3's. They aren't totally top of the line and super stiff, but they work really well for me. Nicely adjustable and great for woods or mild track riding.
