Yamaha Tenere 700 twtex thread T7 XTZ700

over the weekend, i did some 12v wiring to plug in my new zumo ....
Here's how it turned out...
20211225-123148.jpg

I'm not too thrilled about having that much wire length bundled up for this bike ( and likewise when I move it to my other bikes w/ sae connector close to the handlebar), but this extra length s/b long enough to connect on my other bikes w/ sae plugs under seat.

The zumo xt came with all the ram ball attachment parts shown in pic. these new ram claws are shaped different than before, and so , it clamps to both round ball and/or rod.

Help....
My Huzar exhaust is stuck in limbo..
it shipped out of the guy's garage on Dec. 9. , and last known scan was the 13th....

Hey Dao , did you get your exhaust system already ? and what and color and length did you choose ?

Any reason not to just run it under the seat on this bike too?

Yes, it finally arrived last week. USPS delayed it 4 more days after missed delivery date.
I got the long length muffler b/c this one clears, ...won't melt,... the OEM blinker. I sprung for the black powder paint (vs. chrome) on muffler.
here's a pic of the contents.

the whole huzar exhaust=7lbs...that's impressively lightweight.

I did that the expensive way once. I just put a mount on both bikes...

Ohh nice , might order one myself . cant beat it for the price IMO .

For what it's worth, I think I have...6,000? miles on my huzar exhaust, it's held up, no problems. I still need to find a solution for it burning your boot, and/or just a heat shield, but otherwise it's solid and imo looks the best out of all the options.

Anyone else have a hard time finding solid specs on this bike? I tried to look up fork oil capacity/air gap for changing fork oil and found a bunch of different answers. Same thing happened when I was trying to find a front sprocket, there was just a bunch of conflicting info. Consequences of buying a new bike, I guess

Is there no shop manual available for these?

so mark, where along the pipe does the shielding need to be? is it right over that tight radius bend ? ....just over the bend only(? )
and/or further back along the straight section too?
.

Send me a Pm and I will send u a link to the shop manual.

Here is. the cheap fix for a heat shield. U definitely need one; I have some melted spots on pants too! Two hose clamps and the shield from the stock exhaust. The Huzar has been great, no complaints.

That pic says it all. Thx, racer.
...appreciate the tip about reusing stock shield. priced right, and it
looks plenty wide to shield all of the pant leg

and mark the service manual says:
3.35"/85mm air gap, or 624cc / 20.1 oz

yamaha G10 oil, which is a 10w suspension fluid.
maxima, bel-ray, ,motorex, spectro...all their 10w has similar viscosity as G10 oil.

on the fork oil, FYI: my fork. seals started. leaking at about 2500 miles (!) and they are not warranty items. I didn't measure but it appeared that the forks were underfilled from the factory. and they worked better after new seals and oil

I did the same thing with the shield from the stock exhaust, works and looks good.

Here are a few pics of what I did on my T700

yea, that's good news to hear...finally...but imo...
they're about 15 months late w/ bringing them to USA market.
Camel's aux. tank (1st on the market since 2020) got the bulk of the initial sales demand.
whoever needed more fuel, i think they're done buying b/c w/ their camel for total=21 L, it's proven to be the right size for a twin cyl dirtbike.:thumb:

I am personally waiting for the Acerbis to get here. The Camel tank doesn't fit with out modifications to my Rally Raid racks.

The best thing I could find was this online manual:

Which, I see the 624 mL/cc fill, but not an air gap anywhere. Another comment I saw somewhere said 100mm air gap, but I do also vaguely remember that 85mm number popping up somewhere.

Mine was also suspiciously underfilled, I could only get ~500mL fork oil out. I put 600ml in with ~95mm air gap because.... *shrug*. Although I can't ride until I install this outex kit ;)

Nice tip about the stock exhaust shield!

Hmmmm I wonder if those tanks can be retrofitted....

See, sometimes taking the cheap rotopax way out can be beneficial :)
Although I guess now the camel guys can make a full-on dakar gas setup with three tanks

I'll bet they can't retrofitted. Yamaha will want you to buy a new bike. I'll be happy when the Acerbis tanks get to the US for my current bike.

I purchased the Sargent Rallye Seat and what a great investment recommend it to everyone with T700. I also purchased the cover for the pillion seat and works great, bike is ready for Big Bend and Alaska.

If anyone is interested on buying the tank from Safari in Australia they will give a discount hen buying 2 or more as long as they ship to ame address.

Let me know so I am in for a tank just need one more ir if anymore are interested just lets get thoughts together
