2024 Motorcycle Grand Tour of Texas (the Tour) info thread.

Registration is Closed. Flags are being mailed out and should be received by around March 20. If not, contact the Tour director.

This year there are now 5 alternate stops instead of 3.

I verified addresses/stop location and this is what is on the website (this is not official, some addresses are what I got using google maps if one not listed on the tour site or incorrect on tour site).

I used it for all 50 of my stops (not stops 28, 30, 33, 36, and Alt 4, I did not visit these) and the got me within visual of a spot to take a pic.

As always, I am in no way affiliated with the Tour, just a participant that is sharing my information.
Any incorrect information or locations are not my fault, use any info posted here at your own risk and verify it yourself.

Same as previous years, registration starts January 1, usually through the end of February.
One small change is if you sign up in January, you can pick up your Tour Flag in person on February 17 (not sure on where). Otherwise it will be mailed to you as in the past (usually received by 2nd week in March).

Many repeat stops from previous years (a lot of the same sponsor stops), but several new ones as well.

Blupupher, thanks for doing the city map with the pin links, it is a tremendous help. I already started working on some plans, but as I was working through it I did notice #7 missing from the map. Don't know if it is something you can update and add or if you would have to start all over, but once I started reconciling the stops with my plan ,I was like, hey how did I miss his one. Either way, you are awesome, thanks for that work.
 
OK, added in Stop 7. Not sure if I added it and deleted it by accident or just skipped over it.

The map posted is just the cities, not that actual addresses of the stops. I will put that out once they are officially released on the website, along with the .gpx.

I was looking at it today trying to figure out how to make my trips. I may skip Brownsville and Marfa, they are both "odd man out" stops.
Also will probably skip Lone Star Rider, unless we just happen to meet up.
Problem with the alternate stops is 4 of them are on routes I would need to take anyway, so doing them is not an issue. The only alt out of the way is Texarcana, and if I got to Arkansas again this year (I want to, not sure if it will happen), I ride through there anyway..
So initial plan is 4 alternates, Letting me skip Brownsville, Marfa, Lone Star Rider and probably Kingsville.

Part of me though is thinking of doing my first Saddle Sore 1000 by doing a run to Marfa via Del Rio and back to Katy on I-10, stopping by Sonora on the return trip.
My initial plan for a SS1000 has always been a Katy to Alpine via Del Rio and back to Katy via 10. Going to Marfa and Sonora would add about 90 miles/1.5 hours to that route, but easily doable in the timeframe.

Its very nice that blupupher provides the map and eventually the GPX.

For me I find the doing all the research myself is more beneficial for creating my route plan as it causes me to look at other things while I am figuring out exactly where the stops are. Plus, I actually like using Basecamp and I get as much enjoyment out doing the planning as I do the riding.

In '22, it was a mess, and really was expecting it to be done by '23, which it wasn't, so figured it would be done by now.
The only plus about '23 for me was I was there at 6 am on a Saturday morning, no traffic at all.

Registered. Let's see if I can manage more than one loop this year. Hoping this year is not as crazy as last year was.

That explains it, I didn’t watch the video. In the past, (at least the first two years), he has included mention of the discount in the emails announcing that the registration was open; no mention this year. I dropped him a note.
