FOREST MANAGERS PLAN OHV MEETING IN BROADDUS
(Zavalla, Texas) - An information meeting concerning an off-road motorized trail system proposed for the Angelina National Forest will be held from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Thursday, June 9, at Coy Buchanan’s Catfish Junction in Broaddus. It is open to the public.
“Off-road riding is a popular activity in the Angelina National Forest,” District Ranger Karen Tinkle said. “During our planning process, OHVs were the number one issue in Texas and we’re eager to hear from all interested parties.”
The public meeting is hosted by the U.S. Forest Service and partners from the Texas Motorized Trails Coalition and the Arthur Temple College of Forestry and Agriculture at Stephen F. Austin State University.
This will be the fourth public meeting held to gather information and input from the public on a proposed designated trail in the northern portion of the Angelina National Forest.
“After many years of planning, Angelina National Forest managers are ready to work closely with partners such as the Texas Motorized Trails Coalition. We are looking forward to collaborating with concerned groups on this project,” Tinkle said. “We want everyone to have an opportunity to express their opinion on this proposed trail.”
Catfish Junction is located just north of the bridge on Highway 147 south of Broaddus. The phone number is 936-872-3008.
For more information on the meeting, contact Karen Tinkle at 936-897-1068.
I got an email, which I will post after getting clearance from the sender, encouraging off-roaders to attend, as this meeting content will be somewhat different from the previous meetings. I will not be able to make it due to family conflicts.
