Anybody goin from south texas near mcallen or brownsville ? Who might want to share expense n trailer ?
Exactly where do you cross the border there?
Our ringleader is putting together a ride in the National park and we have a question about the roads on the Terlingua Ranch. Are the roads from the desert challenge we did in '16 and '14 Public roads. I know there was a lot of dustup about it last year and we don't want to cause more.
But the Dakar bikes use Bib mousse and they hit speeds of 100 mph+ and depending on terrain cruise long distances at not much less. Granted they swap Bibs and tires daily so is the speed concern you reference just longevity for the average dual sporter only?Mousse inserts don't care if the surface is asphalt. They don't like high sustained speeds, whether on a dry lake bed in Baja or on a highway. The park speed limit is 45. The pavement around the area--that is up to you how fast you want to ride. On that bike, keep the speeds under 65 and you will not have trouble with Mousse inserts.

Some options that might work in addition to the Chisos Mining Company and Big Bend Resort: AirBnB, Longhorn Ranch Motel, Big Bend Casitas, Badland Hotel in Lajitas
