I got out for a ride Saturday. Real nice weather though a bit chilly in the early morning, 35 degrees at one point, and pretty warm mid afternoon, saw 88 degrees. The main goal was to pick up stops on the Motorcycle Grand Tour of Texas but I took a few photos at Presidio De San Saba as it was pretty interesting. Thought I would post them here and just keep stop photos in my thread on the MGTOT.

One thing that always surprises me on these old forts is just how thick the walls are. The ones here I would guess are 30 - 36 inches thick, that is a lot of rock!

Interesting, have not been to that one. Looks similar to the Presidio La Bahia at Goliad. Thanks for posting!
 
Took Suzi out and rang her neck today for a fun 130miles. Perfect day 26,867 on the clock now.
Spring has sprung, got up to 93F.

Got in 20 miles SOLO at Cycleland today. Pretty tough going, they've had lots of rain, so there's exposed roots(of course at odd angles), deep washouts, and downed trees. Dropped it 3 times and plus a couple of difficult for an old man u-turns where I couldn't get by. Still had a good ride then this broke root(bottom of picture) grabbed the bike some how and ended making me whiskey throttle into that darn tree. Hit the sucker pretty firm. Luckily the bike and me survived intact. Still was scary and now I'm sore. Till next time!

Ohfff. Glad your ok. When we are hurt, we don't take pics, usually serious. When people are quiet about injuries, that's when you have to watch out... Or head injury. Those bell ringers can hide serious issue.
 
Last Tuesday, I had a really fun ride from Waco out around Clifton, Cranfills Gap, Gatesville, and a bunch of other small towns in and around. Had a mishap at a water crossing outside of Cranfills Gap lol, the first 6 I crossed weren't slick at all and I got complacent. Was a great way to cool off. Here's the full video of the ride

Still new to the off-road side of motorbikes so I’ve just been sticking to the gravel roads out east in Huffman, Crosby and Dayton areas… It’s mostly straight and flat roads but it’s been good for me to work on getting comfortable standing up and practicing spinning the rear tire with throttle and sliding the rear wheel with brakes. Looking forward to getting some more off-road oriented tires to help gain a bit more confidence in the front wheel in the corners.

Nice ride! Venture on up to the New Waverly and SHNF area. Roads will be little more interesting!

Thanks. I’ve ridden up around Coldspring a few times riding on some of the dirt roads up there. I’ve been racing gravel bikes all over the SHNF, Huntsville, Willis and Conroe areas for years so I know lots of great gravel routes out there, I just haven’t had as much time as I’d like for longer day trips up there as I’m currently focusing on the state mountain bike championship series… once that series ends in May, I plan on being up in that area most weekends. :)

The wife went with me on a ride to grab another of the GTOT sites out at the Bee County courthouse. We took the scenic route and were planning on going a bit further until I realize I did not have my wallet and no CC or money. Luckily we had enough fuel to get home by cutting the planned route short and slabbing it in a bee line home.
They do have a nice looking courthouse.

Looks like a fun ride, lucky you didn't slide all the way off into the creek! Would you happen to have a gpx file for that you would be willing to share? Always trying to find more dirt to ride in that area.

Yes, but I'll say the gravel/dirt dissappears when you're in McLennan County and most of Coryell County.
