Jeff still needs your prayers, please. I've spent the last week in the hospital with him, not knowing exactly what was happening with his body.

Quite a bit of fluid built up around his heart after his valve replacement 2 weeks ago. We almost lost Jeff this past Tuesday. The doctors drained about a liter of fluid from around his heart. (A normal, healthy person has about 50cc in the sac around the heart.) After the procedure, the doctor talked to me and told me there was also fluid around his lungs.

The doctor for that said he wasn't "impressed" enough to risk infection/bleeding by draining it right now. The huge amount of fluid around Jeff's heart collapsed the lower left lobe of his left lung, and he also has pneumonia in that part of his lung. The doctor may or may not drain that fluid later - will make the decision after Jeff is better.

Jeff has four docs attending to him right now - Internal Medicine, Cardiologist, Pulmonary doc (for his lungs), and an Infectious Disease Specialist.

After receiving 3 different antibiotics intravenously for the last 3 days, it appears to have cleared (still clearing) any bacteria or infection he had, because his fever has been gone for 2 days.

Jeff's on the road to recovery, but there is still quite a ways to go. Your prayers and good wishes would be greatly appreciated.

Will do.

Thanks for posting an update & keep 'em coming. Glad you were able to be with him this last week. Now, get him home!

This one is close to home, the wife & I have 2 grown sons. God bless ya'll.

Cindy,

Ann and I will include Jeff in our prayers. Thank you for letting us know.

We're all with you and your family with thoughts for Jeff and his recovery. Take a deep breath and let us know when/if you need anything from your two-wheeled family.

Your prayers seem to be working! Jeff was released from the hospital this afternoon - with LOTS of restrictions!!!!

He's still got a ways to go on his road to recovery, so please keep him in your prayers.

He's staying at our house for a least the next week. Visitors are welcome.

I am new to this thread and do not know who Jeff is, but I would like to know more about him and how he came to be sick. Was it a motorcycle related injury or did he just fall ill and need surgery? I ask this question in the very most respectful way I hope you understand. I wish you well Jeff and a speedy recovery. I fell ill in June my self when I found out I had renal cell carcinoma and had my left kidney removed as a result of the cancer. But for me all is well and I am recovering nicely. Thanks, Chris Mitchell

Wow. Just found your post this morning, Cindy. Very relieved to hear that Jeff improved enough to be released. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Well, Jeff's been out of the hospital for over a week, and it's been two weeks since we almost lost him. Looks like he's going to do fine.

Thanks for everything all of you! You'll never know how much your support meant (and still means) to us.

Good news, Cindy & Chris.

Now he stands to inherit all those bikes in your list... :-P

Very glad to hear things are going well now!
