West Texas Weekend (or Thanks for Voting)

Thanks to everyone who decided we would ride out west this weekend.

The Big Bend/Davis Mountains area was as spectacular and magical as always.




40 Degrees and raining at departure.

With all due respect to Ferdinand the Duck in Babe, allow me to paraprhase...When embarking on an audacious adventure you need a willing accomplice - a creature who is reliable, beyond suspicion and, above all, extremely gullible. That's me, the gullible one on the right with Marc (aka Ferdinand) in Davis Mtns State Park.

Speaking of pigs...we shared our campsite with this guy and about 20 of his pals.

I saw YOUR trip report and am glad the votes sent us west and not east. That looked, uh, fun...

There is something special about the Big Bend area of Texas. All these years I have planned trips out of Texas. It was not until I found TWT that I started to concentrate on trips IN Texas.

I really enjoyed your trip, Old Maverick Road looks like it was a little slippery!
